Laithkirk Parish Church DL12
Laithkirk was formerly a Tithe Barn for Lord Fitzhugh, where the people of Mickleton had to pay their tithes, crossing the River Lune by a ford before there was a bridge, following a winding track uphill behind the former Vicarage to the Tithe Barn. The barn was given and converted to a church in 1577 and became a Parish Church in 1844. 0
The Church stands proudly overlooking the River Lune with what many who visit there says is one of the best views from a church doorway they have seen anywhere. |
